How to Refresh Your Personal Style
Motherhood can be tumultuous. Your personal style doesn’t need to be. After having children, it’s so easy to get stuck in a style rut. I mean, who’s not guilty of wearing leggings everyday for a week or more? I know I am 🙋🏻♀️. After my second daughter turned one this past March, I made a conscious effort to wear leggings and sneakers less and jeans and dresses more. And guess what? Once I made it a habit, I began to feel more confident and at peace with my post-baby body.
With that being said, I thought it would be fun to share my best tips on how to refresh your personal style. It’s not necessary to follow all of these tips – even doing just one or two of them will be enough to lift your spirits and make you feel rejuvenated.
1.) Get a fresh color and cut or change your hairstyle completely
There is nothing like a fresh hair cut and or color to give you an instant mood boost. Whether you’re getting your hair touched up or changing your hairstyle completely, this is the easiest way to put a little pep back in your step. It’s also a great way to schedule a little mommy time away from home.
2.) Sign up for a clothing subscription box
If you want to play around with different styles or just add some versatility to your wardrobe, this is the best way to do it. There is a clothing subscription box out there for everyone, so whether you prefer everyday clothing and accessories, athleisure wear, lingerie or shoes, you can find a subscription box that works for you. I recommend trying out Le Tote, Trunk Club or Stitch Fix.
3.) Treat yourself to some new make-up
One of my favorite things is waking up in the morning knowing that I have new make-up to wear that day. Trying out new make-up can be fun, and you never know when you’re going to find that must-have product. Of course, wearing make-up is not always necessary (sometimes it’s good to give your skin a little break), but if it makes you feel good, than why not?
4.) Invest in a pair or two of Spanx Faux Leather Leggings
OK, so hear me out. I know that I mentioned wearing leggings less, but these aren’t just any leggings. They’re ultra sleek looking and flattering on everyone who wears them! Invest in a pair of these, and I promise you WILL feel like a million bucks.
5.) Clean out your closet
This is an easy tip that costs zero dollars. While you may not be gaining anything by cleaning out your closet, choosing to get rid of clothes that you haven’t worn in over a year will help you to feel refreshed. It will also make room for any new clothing that you’ve yet to purchase.
6.) Buy yourself a pair of shoes that make you feel sexy
If you’re a shoe lover, than this tip is for you! Hell, even if you’re not this is a great tip for updating your personal style. Find a pair of shoes that are comfortable and sexy and transform any look from casual to chic.
I hope that these tips help to lift your spirits and/or get out of any style ruts that you may be experiencing. If you’re interested in investing in new make-up and aren’t sure where to start, you can check out my blog post What’s Currently in My Make-Up Bag.
